Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Fat Cat Data ("Fat Cat Data," "we," "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit fatcatdata.com (the "Site") or contact us about our services. We are a consultancy, not a data broker: our interest in your information extends exactly as far as answering your inquiry and running a professional engagement, and no further.
Information we collect
Information you give us. If you submit the Start a Project form or email us, we receive what you choose to send: typically your name, organization, role, email address, optional phone number, and a description of your project or question.
Information collected automatically. The Site uses Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how it is used — pages viewed, how visitors arrived, approximate geography, device and browser type, and interactions such as scrolling and outbound clicks. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects device identifiers and IP addresses to do this; we use the resulting reports only in aggregate and do not use them to identify individuals. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout) or by blocking analytics cookies. Beyond analytics, the Site sets no advertising cookies and runs no other third-party trackers. Our hosting provider generates standard server logs — IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps — used only for security and to keep the Site working. A small browser-storage flag is used for optional site preferences; it identifies nothing about you and never leaves your browser.
How we use information
We use the information you send us to respond to your inquiry, scope and deliver consulting engagements, and meet our legal and accounting obligations. We do not sell personal information. We do not share it with third parties for their marketing. We do not use the contents of your project inquiries to train any model or to inform work for any other client.
How information is shared
Information is shared only with service providers who help us operate — for example, website hosting and email — and only to the extent needed to provide those services. If we are required to disclose information by law, or need to do so to protect our rights or the safety of others, we will. If Fat Cat Data is ever party to a merger or acquisition, information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.
Client confidentiality
Consulting engagements routinely involve sensitive organizational data. That material is governed by the confidentiality terms of each engagement's written agreement, which are stricter than this policy. As a rule: client data lives in client-dedicated environments, is never commingled across clients, and is returned or destroyed at the end of an engagement as the agreement specifies.
Retention
We keep inquiry correspondence for as long as a business relationship is live or reasonably in prospect, and then as long as law or good records practice requires. You can ask us to delete your inquiry information at any time using the contact below, and we will unless a legal obligation requires otherwise.
Security
We apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information we hold: encrypted connections to the Site, access controls on correspondence and engagement material, and private, authenticated deployments for client systems. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we do not promise otherwise.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. We honor reasonable requests regardless of jurisdiction: email thecat@fatcatdata.com and we will respond within thirty days. If you believe we have not resolved a concern, you may also contact your local data-protection authority.
Children
The Site is a business-to-business service aimed at sports organizations. It is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the revised version here with an updated date. Material changes will be flagged prominently on this page.
